My husband became ill a few years ago, and after much thought, we decided to move into a care home together because we didn’t want to be apart. We moved into a lovely couple’s suite at Stratton Court Care Home without a hitch. We fell in love with the apartment’s atmosphere; it felt warm and welcoming, and the décor was similar to our own. My husband died expectedly after a few months. It was a tough time for me but the nurses helped me daily with the loss and their kindness helped me through.
Even though I had only moved into Aura my husband, I knew I didn’t want to leave the care home.
I also didn’t want to leave the friends I’d made, so I decided to stay and make it my permanent home. I was graciously relocated to my own luxurious apartment. I brought my easel into the apartment so that I could continue painting and have since decorated the room with all my oil, water colour, and pastel paintings. A glass cabinet was even built for me to house all of my collectibles over the years. I brought my easel into the apartment so that I could continue painting.
Aura has even displayed some of my paintings throughout the care home. I also have my own beautiful garden where I grow my own plants. My favourite aspect of living here is that my grandchildren can visit whenever they want and we can go for long walks around the gardens.
