UNDERSTANDING RESPITE CARE

A HELPING HAND

Everyone deserves some ‘me’ time. If you are caring for someone and need some time for yourself to recharge your batteries, or you’d like a little extra support yourself following a period of illness, taking a break from your usual routine is essential to help maintain your own general health and wellbeing.

At Kings Lodge we provide respite, or short stay care, for those who do not require long term care. Depending on the individual’s needs, a short stay could range from a few days to a few weeks. Our respite residents often return time and again once they have experienced life at Kings Lodge.
Individuals have also chosen to make their Kings Lodge their permanent home following their Respite experiences.

Respite Care may be suitable for various reasons and can be beneficial whether it has been planned or due to unexpected circumstances.

WHEN TO CONSIDER RESPITE?

SPECIALISED HELP in ANY CIRCUMSTANCE

^

24 hour full-time support is required and home care support is not available

^

An illness has left you feeling unwell and you need extra support to help you on your road to recovery

^

Recovering from an operation and time to recuperate

^

Making a decision to move into a Care Home permanently is being considered. Respite care will provide you with an opportunity to experience what moving into a care home permanently may be like

^

There is a feeling of loneliness or isolation

^

You have a pre-booked holiday and you are unable to take your friend or relative with you.

J D (Resident)

“I was repatriated after breaking a leg badly while skiing. I needed somewhere easy to stay for a week to mobilise and start rehab. Aged 58, there were a few options and Kings Lodge was ideal. I had a good room and the caring staff arranged physio for me. There were good facilities for visitors and the food was good. Whilst not primarily set up for short stays, they could not have been more helpful.”

J B (Daughter of Resident)

“Mum said that the home was the nicest place she had been and said she would like to return when I go on holiday again.
Mum was treated with respect and dignity. Food was amazingly good.”

Ina B (Daughter of Resident)

“I booked my mother into Kings Lodge as I looked around other residential care homes and this one looked beautiful. Our son was married in Bali in August as he lives in Australia and all the family from the UK and the rest came from Australia. I felt that Kings Lodge came out best for my mother to respite with lots of care. The staff were very, very friendly and my mother didn’t have a bad word against them, she was treated beautifully and I wouldn’t hesitate in booking her in there again.”
