Our in-house physio and nursing team create a specialist rehab plan for each patient, which aims to help patients return home safely as soon as possible.

GENERAL REHABILITATION

We smooth the recovery process for elderly people who’ve had a physical decline. This could be due to cancer, surgery, illness or any other medical condition. General Rehabilitation uses as a personalised plan to build strength, balance, mobility and confidence.

STROKE AND NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION

We smooth the recovery process for elderly people who’ve had a physical decline. This could be due to cancer, surgery, illness or any other medical condition. General Rehabilitation uses as a personalised plan to build strength, balance, mobility and confidence.

HOW CAN REABLEMENT HELP OLDER ADULTS?

The goal of reablement for elderly people is to improve their independence, strength, mobility, balance and confidence. As people get older, these qualities often deteriorate. Sometimes there is a sudden change due to injury, illness or surgery. The best way to keep moving well, for as long as possible, is daily practice. For many people, it’s not safe or possible to practise at home – this is where inpatient or residential rehab is invaluable.

The activities and exercises in reablement vary widely from person to person. Sometimes this involves learning to use specialist equipment to make life easier. For some people, the goal may be to move independently between a bed and chair. Other people may be aiming to return to full independent living, walking outdoors unassisted and even sports. Everyone is different, which is why an individualised approach is key.

Our in-house physiotherapist and specialist nursing team can help patients set achievable goals and work towards them. We also work closely with local authorities, social care teams, occupational health and the NHS for a seamless transition back home after a stay at Stratton Court Care Home.

ABOUT OUR REABLEMENT SERVICE

Our reablement team are highly trained specialist with a shared wealth of experience. Our in-house physiotherapist is experienced in orthopaedics, neurology, elderly care, urgent care and a wide range of medical conditions. Our nursing team includes specialists trained in rehabilitation, mental health, stroke and neurological rehab as well as dementia and other forms of complex care.

Collaboratively, we help older adults recover with confidence and achieve the best possible health outcomes. People with difficulties following a stroke, fall, joint replacement, or a medical decline could benefit from reablement to help regain their independence.

When you complete your rehabilitation with us, we will send you home with a package which includes exercises and advice to continue your rehabilitation and recovery.

Review from A D (Granddaughter of Resident)

Absolutely lovely care home. Staff are always really friendly and helpful. My nan is very well cared for and respected. Often told how she is one of the staff's favourites which is lovely to hear! Very well decorated home right from the reception all the way to the residents' bedrooms and bathrooms. Nothing is ever too much trouble!

Review from K M (Son of Resident)

Mum went to Stratton Court 3 years ago on respite. She quickly made it her home. As her health deteriorated her care needs increased. Mum had a DNR in place and was adamant she did not want to go to the hospital but to spend her last days at Stratton Court. She got her wish and my wife was by her side when she passed. I would like to thank everyone for their outstanding love and care the nursing they gave to Mum. You truly made it her home. We were overwhelmed by all your support.

Review from Susan N (Daughter of Resident)

My mother continues to receive excellent care and attention at Stratton Court. She is very happy, secure and her needs are met by very caring staff. As a family we feel we could not have made a better choice as we know she is in good hands and her health is well maintained and attended to. She is encouraged to be mobile and join in activities and enjoy the company, food and comfortable environment.

A massive thank you to all the staff. What a difference you made not just in my dad's life but ours too. He called it home, which it had become. His every need was met, you all welcomed him and made him feel safe. Nothing was too much trouble. He was fussy with food but you took that on and exceeded his wishes. When I talk to other people about King's Lodge and how happy my dad was. They say what a difference it is to hear so many positive things. I truly appreciate the love and support you gave us as a family when he sadly didn't wake anymore. Manager and Deputy Manager you made him a home with love and support I will always be grateful.

Mum has been at Kings Lodge for 4 years and she is very happy and settled on one of the dementia units. She is so very well looked after by the wonderful caring staff that work so hard looking after the residents. The activities team also do a fabulous job organising so many different entertainers coming in and all the activities for the residents to watch or get involved in. All the staff are so caring, friendly and welcoming and it's so nice to know my mum is safe and being so well looked after by this lovely team. Thank you all so much.

Review from Caire J (Wife of Resident)

My husband went into the lodge for respite care. Our daughter and I visited the lodge it was the unknown and a particular member of staff made us feel so at ease as did all the staff they all said hello. It was a massive step for us all, but all the staff made us all feel so very welcome, another staff member and her team were just fantastic with my husband and I, nothing was too much trouble. She always supported me when I was upset and has been such a strength to us, thank you to her. It has been lovely meeting the other residents to and doing activities, the activity coordinators are amazing. Great fun was had by all. Everyone there at Kings Lodge is just brilliant the kindness and how thought they all are is just amazing, It's great how they remember names too. Always smiling, couldn't have wished for a better place for my husband to have respite. I know that if things change I would choose Kings Lodge as it's so reassuring how lovely the staff are and the caring side of things too. Thank you the managers and all your staff.

Amazing place for my nan the best thing we ever did was to put my nan into Kings Lodge my nan loves all the staff there they always make her laugh and smile. I visited Kings Lodge to have a look around for my nan, when I got there I was greeted by the staff in reception who are so lovely, I met both of the managers they were also very lovely and made us all feel welcome and made us part of their family. The staff are so happy and friendly and always stop to talk to us ask us how our day has been they all communicate very well. The whole place was clean and smelt really nice and clean also key-coded doors so no one can just walk in and out. Fantastic place.

Review from Jay T (Brother of Resident)

From my first contact with making arrangements to secure a place for my Brother at Kings Lodge, I was very impressed. It's beautifully reminded me of a 4-star hotel. My Brother moved in September 24 and he absolutely loved it, and immediately felt at home. The management team and reception staff are exceptional, I was welcomed with every visit with a cup of coffee and a chat if I wanted and always made to feel welcome, I felt part of their family. As for the nurses they were incredible, my Brother was terminally ill and this was to be his final resting place, and I know he wouldn't have wanted to of been anywhere else. My brother was a prickly character but the staff just took it all in their stride, they sat with him and talked when he needed to, sang with him and when he was able, danced with him and when he was nearing the end they held his hand and stayed with him, how beautiful was that. When he passed we all cried together, what kindness and humanity these wonderful staff demonstrated.
