My wife Petrica was diagnosed with Dementia 20 years ago. After 18 years of caring for her, I realized I needed more assistance, but I was hesitant to place her in a home because the thought of being separated from my wife after 70 years was terrifying. A friend of ours told us about Stratton Court Village and their unique couple suites, which meant I could move in with Patricia and continue to support her.

We’ve been here for two years and we wouldn’t live anywhere else. All of the nurses are highly trained, but what matters most is that they are kind, caring and patient with us. We live in our own beautiful, spacious en-suite apartment, complete with a kitchen, television, a patio garden that is tended to on a weekly basis, and the daily newspaper of our choice.

Despite the fact that we live in a nursing home, we feel like we have our independence while also having access to care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s wonderful to be so close to my family in Cirencester, who can come and see us whenever they want.
