At Stratton Court, part of Aura Care Living in Cirencester, we’re always looking for ways to celebrate our community and create memorable experiences for our residents.
On Saturday 20th September, our purpose-built ramp took centre stage as residents and their teams competed in a light-hearted contest of speed, skill, and rolling technique.
It was every bit as spirited as Gloucestershire’s world-famous tradition, but with our own Stratton Court twist.
It was a true community celebration: alongside the races, guests enjoyed live music, delicious food, local stalls, refreshing cider, and a wonderful farmyard atmosphere.
“It was very surreal when I was judging it… watching people roll Babybel cheeses down a makeshift hill,” said care home sales director, Peter Lloyd.
About 160 people of all ages watched the “nail-biting” and “epic” competition, Mr Lloyd said.
One participant wrote in with:
I intended to drop you a line to say what a lovely event yesterday was, lovely atmosphere and so well organised. Thank you. Whilst, we didn’t partake in the cheese roll, it was fun watching those that did. Mum particularly enjoyed the gentleman singing and was singing along quite happily. Hope you raised lots of money for Sue Ryder.
