My husband went into the lodge for respite care. Our daughter and I visited the lodge it was the unknown and a particular member of staff made us feel so at ease as did all the staff they all said hello. It was a massive step for us all, but all the staff made us all feel so very welcome, another staff member and her team were just fantastic with my husband and I, nothing was too much trouble. She always supported…

From my first contact with making arrangements to secure a place for my Brother at Kings Lodge, I was very impressed. It's beautifully reminded me of a 4-star hotel. My Brother moved in September 24 and he absolutely loved it, and immediately felt at home. The management team and reception staff are exceptional, I was welcomed with every visit with a cup of coffee and a chat if I wanted and always made to feel…

On 6th Feb.2026, my mum was discharged from hospital to Kings Lodge following 3 falls at home, for respite care. It became apparent after a short time that she needed residential care and after consideration from mum and myself, mum decided to stay at the home permanently. What a wonderful decision that was. Here we are June26 and she could not be happier! The home is magnificent, the grounds beautiful and ALL the…

I have been caring for my wife since 2014 when she was first diagnosed with dementia. I viewed our home as a care home in which she was the resident and myself the care home manager. Past experience (sometimes painful) of finding care homes for my mother and parents-in-law had led me to set standards of care on five levels - feeling at home: Personal Care: Mental Stimulation: Medical Care and Support Management…

My grandma received palliative care at King's Lodge. It was a difficult time for us as a family, but we found the team at Kings Lodge, to be amazing. They were supportive and caring throughout, answering any questions that we had. They showed my grandma, care and compassion, when it mattered most. There really is a sense of family within the home, that leaves you feeling like your family are being cared for, as you…

My lovely husband has been a Resident at Kings Lodge for some while now. There are not enough words to express how truly grateful myself and Family are to every member of Staff at Kings Lodge. Staff are so kind and supportive. Going through the process of Dementia diagnosis and then finally having to accept a Care Home is in the best interests of a much loved husband and father is so hard. My husband receives such…

Our experience at Kings Lodge was excellent. The staff took exceptional care of my mum, who moved into Osprey wing in August 2023 until she recently passed. It was traumatic to move mum out of her home of 50 years, into a new and unfamiliar place. But from day 1, the staff were friendly and engaging and kind. They got to know Mum and understand her wants and needs, even though she didn't speak very much at this…

I'm writing this to express thanks on behalf of all the family for the exceptional care that you provided to my grandfather during his time with you, and I think Mum is going to write to you directly too. Making the decision to move from home was huge for all of us and we feel lucky and privileged that King's Lodge was recommended to us by the hospital team. The surroundings and his room were obviously lovely, but…

I would like to leave a review for the excellent care my mother receives at Kings Lodge! She has been at Kings Lodge now for nearly 3 years and in all the time she has been there we couldn't ask for a better care home. Mum has Alzheimer's and dementia which is getting gradually worse. The staff have been wonderful with great care and support for Mum, there are plenty of activities during the day they also take the…

About Kings Lodge

A chalet in the mountains, in fifteen acres of woodland.

We built Kings Lodge in collaboration with the architect Patrick Lewis, bringing our CEO’s vision to life. Completed in 2018, it was designed around the idea of a ‘chalet in the mountains’ with wooden structures, a fireplace on the terrace, nestled within 15 acres of woodlands, creating a serene living environment.

Each wing has a nursing station, its own lounge and dining area, and residents have access to everything the home has to offer inside and out - it is, of course, their home.

Our care team members are carefully selected based on their skills, training, and qualifications but also on their empathetic and caring nature - something you can’t teach.

Care offered here

Every care pathway, in one home.

All 6 Aura care pathways are available at Kings Lodge. This means residents never have to move homes when/if their care needs change.

Nursing Care
A nurse walking arm in arm with a resident through the home

Nursing care is provided for individuals who require a qualified nursing care team available to them 24 hours a day. Our specialised nursing service allows us to offer high-quality care for our residents with complex needs or illnesses in a homely and non-clinical environment.

Whether recovering following an operation or requiring long term care, our qualified Registered Nurses (RN’s) and our team of highly trained Senior Carers (SrC) and care assistants (CA) will provide professional care to every resident with privacy, dignity and respect.

At Kings Lodge we are proud to offer a holistic person-centred approach to Nursing Care. Our personalised care plans are created with a shared input from our resident along with their family members and other members of the Multidisciplinary Team including GPs, Physios, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Specialist Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners where appropriate Continence Team, Dieticians as well as our experienced care team.

Kings Lodge’s fundamental values are to maintain and promote the individuals independence and choice. Our person-centred approach to Nursing Care allows us to ensure these values are achieved.

Dementia Care
A resident receiving flowers in the garden, with a member of the Aura team

At Kings Lodge we have developed a specifically designed dementia community as part of our innovative dementia care service.

Our dementia community has been specifically designed to offer the best care for individuals living with dementia, with a special mural created called ‘Memory Lane’.

This includes a succession of pictures from the past including bright colourful images of old shops, running all the way through its main corridor and access area.

Resources such as these are perfectly designed to bring out the strengths and personalities of our residents living with dementia to ensure they are receiving the highest quality specialised care within comfortable, engaging and interactive surroundings.

Respite Care
A comfortable lounge area for short respite stays

Everyone deserves some ‘me’ time. If you are caring for someone and need some time for yourself to recharge your batteries, or you’d like a little extra support yourself following a period of illness, taking a break from your usual routine is essential to help maintain your own general health and wellbeing.

We provide respite, or short stay care, for those who do not require long term care. Depending on the individual’s needs, a short stay could range from a few days to a few weeks. Our respite residents often return time and again once they have experienced life at Kings Lodge.

Individuals have also chosen to make their Kings Lodge their permanent home following their Respite experiences.

Respite Care may be suitable for various reasons and can be beneficial whether it has been planned or due to unexpected circumstances.

Residential Care
Two residents enjoying a glass of champagne on the garden terrace

Residential Care is provided at Kings Lodge for those individuals who wish to remain as independent as possible in their everyday life, safe in the knowledge that there is 24 hour care and support available should they require it. Residential Care provides the opportunity and flexibility for the individual to have their own private time and space, or socialise with other residents when they choose to.

Residential Care includes assisting the person with activities of daily living for example assistance with personal hygiene, dietary requirements, mobility, elimination, and social interaction. This helps our residents to maintain their independence, self- esteem, and self- worth to achieve the quality of life they desire.

At Kings Lodge we minimise as much as possible the unnecessary stress and worry from growing older, replacing it with new friendships, fun, great food and fine wine. Old age should not be a barrier to enjoying life to the full, creating new memories and friendships to cherish along the way.
