Respite Care.

A short stay for the person being cared for — and a well-earned break for the person who usually cares for them. Respite Care can be booked from two weeks onwards with a flexible booking pattern.

A comfortable lounge area for short respite stays
In practice

A short stay that’s helpful to the family and to the person.

Respite stays are needed for a wide range of reasons, including for a trial stay, or a recovery period after surgery.

Like long-term residents, respite residents have a private suite, a full care plan, all meals, and access to all home activity. The only difference is the booking pattern.

We have dedicated respite suites at both of our homes that are kept ready, so a stay can usually be arranged within a week. Emergency respite is available subject to a same-day assessment.

Who it suits

Respite care is right when…

Respite is for the person being cared for — but also, candidly, for the family member or partner providing the care. We see both sides equally.

  • 01 A family carer needs a planned break or holiday
  • 02 Recovery from surgery or a hospital stay needs a few weeks of skilled support
  • 03 A family member is travelling or temporarily unavailable
  • 04 Testing what longer-term care might feel like, before committing
  • 05 A primary carer has had their own crisis, planned or otherwise
Common questions

The questions families ask us most.

Q.01
How quickly can a stay start?
Most planned respite stays start within a week of enquiry. Emergency respite is subject to availability and same-day assessment.
Q.02
What is the minimum stay?
Two weeks. We find anything shorter rarely allows time to truly settle and feel rested.
Q.03
Can my parent come back next month for another stay?
Yes — many of our respite residents return on a recurring pattern (one month in three is common). We hold the same suite when we can.
