Rehabilitation care helps those with goal-led recovery usually following a hospital stay — within an unhurried surrounding that lifts the spirit while the body catches up.
In practice
A short stay, built around a goal.
Rehabilitation care at Aura is typically a four-to-twelve week stay following a hospital discharge.
Every stay starts with a goal-setting session based on what the resident wants to achieve. From there, our physiotherapy and occupational therapy leads will build a programme and monitor against it weekly.

Delivered by the team around you
The plan is delivered by our nurses, care assistants and Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists depending on what’s required.

Ready to go home
When you’re ready to leave, the Physiotherapist will discuss the discharge process and come to an understanding of what set up you have at home to ensure you can return with confidence.
*Physiotherapy assistance/care is a separate fee not included in your weekly fee.
Who it suits
Rehabilitation care is right when…
Most of our rehabilitation residents come straight from a hospital ward. A few arrive from home after deconditioning or for an intensive physiotherapy top-up not available through community services at the pace needed.
- 01 Post-surgical recovery (hip, knee, abdominal) needs a few weeks of skilled support
- 02 A stroke has happened, and home is not yet safe nor can provide the needed rehabilitation
- 03 A fall or long hospital stay has left mobility, confidence or strength below baseline
- 04 You want to go home eventually but not yet and not without support
- 05 NHS community physio is too sparse to meet the pace of recovery you want
Common questions
The questions families ask us most.
- How long is a typical rehabilitation stay?
- Four to twelve weeks, depending on the goals and the starting point. We will review this weekly, and we don’t keep anyone longer than needed.
- Can my consultant continue to oversee my care?
- Yes — many of our rehab residents come on a shared-care basis with their hospital consultant, with us managing day-to-day delivery.
- Is rehabilitation care self-funded?
- Most stays are self-funded or insurance-funded. NHS-funded stays - under Continuing Healthcare or intermediate care - are accepted subject to commissioning.
