A care home resident was reduced to tears after receiving a sweet video message from Sir Cliff Richard. Marjorie Smith was sent a personalised video after telling staff she wanted to meet the singer. Residents at Aura Care Living were asked to place wishes onto a special ‘tree’. The 89-year-old said she wanted to see the Congratulations singer live as her wish, writing: ‘My wish is to see Cliff Richard…I love him!’
Marjorie’s family and Aura Care Living staff got together and contacted Sir Cliff’s management, and the star kindly agreed to send something special. Sir Cliff, dressed in a blue checked shirt and jeans, said in the clip: ‘Hi Marjorie, I hear you’re not well and I just wanted to send this message to tell you you’re in my thoughts and you’re in my prayers. Lots of love and god bless.’ After watching Marjorie, who has a framed picture of the singer in her room, became emotional and wiped her eyes as she teared up.
Stunned at the lovely video, she said her wish had come true. Sir Cliff is rumoured to appear in an upcoming episode of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, chatting to the presenter about his life – including his two-year ordeal with allegations of sexual abuse, which he has always denied. In 2014 the star’s home was raided by police in relation to the investigation, which was then dropped two years later with no charges brought.
