An elderly care home resident in Cirencester received a personalised video message from Sir Cliff Richard - after she told staff it was her one wish to meet him.
Marjorie Smith, 89, cried when she found out the singer had honoured her request - calling him “gorgeous”.
Residents at Aura Care Living had been asked to place a wish on a special ‘tree’, which workers would then do their best to grant.
Marjorie wrote: ‘My wish is to see Cliff Richard…I love him!’, which prompted her family and staff to email the musician’s manager.
They then went on with their lives, thinking they wouldn’t hear back from Sir Cliff, 79 - before receiving a video message one day.
He said in the clip: “Hi there Marjorie. I hear you’re not well, and I just wanted to send this message to tell you you’re in my thoughts and you’re in my prayers.
“Lots of love and God bless.”
David Eble, a worker at the care home in Stratton, then showed the heartfelt video to Marjorie.
She said: “It’s brought tears to my eyes.”
